Q: Is there an age limit?
A: We LOVE working with students ages 9-adult! If there's a specific age group for a class, it'll be noted on the class in the catalog.
Q: What are the Apprentice levels mentioned in class prerequisites?
A: These levels are for youth only! Find more information on these levels under the Apprentice Levels tab.
Q: What's the Kilroy's facility like?
A: Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, our family-friendly 14,000 sq. ft. facility has everything you need to create your one-of-a-kind metal project. The only thing missing is YOU! Check out a quick shop tour from 2022 here! Note that some new elements are missing in the video - new tour coming soon!
Q: Is there a place for parents/guardians to wait while kids are in class?
A: Yes! We have an air-conditioned lobby and break room with plenty of chairs, tables, a couch, charging outlets, and free wifi. There's also a fridge for lunches and a microwave, and snacks/drinks are available for purchase!
Q: What is your refund policy?
A: If you cancel or reschedule more than a week before the start of class we will issue either a class credit or refund, or we can reschedule you to another class. If canceled before class, but less than a week from the class start date, we will issue a full credit for your class to use for another class of your choice. If a student fails to show up for a class, no refund or voucher is given as we allocated instructors and resources to a seat regardless of attendance. This is the same notice that is included in the class waiver.
Q: Can I schedule private events, host military groups, and birthday parties?
A: Yes! We have private classes/parties all the time, host school groups, and work with military groups such as River Deep Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project. Send us a message via the Contact Form in the drop-down menu or call (719) 257-3012 and we'd be happy to discuss options! Group discounts may apply.
Q: Do you take custom work/repairs?
A: Yes! Have a project that would like our help with? We would love to hear from you! Get an estimate by reaching out using the Contact Form in the drop-down menu.
Q: Is Kilroy's able to accommodate a range of special needs/disabilities?
A: Yes! Our excellent staff is trained to work with and accommodate a variety of unique physical, developmental, behavioral/emotional, and sensory-impaired needs including ASD, ADD/ADHD, auditory processing delays, and many more! On special occasions, we've even made apparatuses for veterans who've lost limbs in combat and would like to forge. If you or a loved one is in need of a special accommodation, please message us via the Contact Form in the drop-down menu! We can accommodate most needs.
Q: What can I expect from Kilroy's instructors?
A: Every member of our team has excellent character and a heart for people! Expect them to get to know you as an individual, work with you to reach your goals, and treat you with the respect and care you deserve. Every member of our team is also cleared to work with children, trained in first aid/CPR, has certifications with the AWS (as applicable), and are Journeyman/Master blacksmiths (as applicable). Many of them have been on Forged in Fire, too. You're in great hands!
Q: Do you offer scholarships?
A: We do not at this time, but we offer a variety of financing options including 3rd-party plans Klarna and Affirm! To inquire about payment plans, message us via the Contact Form in the drop-down menu or choose a payment plan that's right for you upon checkout.
